I just turned 24.
Can you believe? Heck, I can’t.
The pressure builds up as years and years get added to the numerical value that is called age. First, there is the pressure to be financially stable; get a good job, own properties: house, car, furnitures, husband (haha). Then apart from the basic economical needs there are also family pressures. All cousins older than me have married. To make matters worse, they all have good marriage contracts. They married well. Now, all eyes are on me. The unlucky one in line.
Yesterday, my 6month old niece got christened. It’s a big celebration. All were cooing, purring, meowing at the cute little babe. All was well until my father said, “Chi, when will you give me my own grandchild?” And the world came tumbling down. I really don’t know. Perhaps, never.
In two weeks or so I’d be flying to Manila for internship at PGH. New world, new challenges, new people. I am a driftwood. No, there is no shore yet in the horizon.

24 it’s just a number… but that number is one of the basis of judgement for us individuals(in w/c i don’t like)… kasi habang tumatanda mas gumagrabe ang expectations >.< like what you have said own properties… and provide grandchildren to parents… waaaaaaaaaaaaa (i’mm so unlucky i’m the only child and it’s a must for me to give parents grandchildren…

if i was in that position, i would have responded with “Don’t worry, i’m still working on it. In fact, I will be meeting with *name* tonight to work on it again.” I’m pretty sure that would instantly turn the tables against whoever is asking. hehe
internship at the PGH? wow! that’s one hell of a great opportunity you have been given there so best of luck to you… i know you’ll be a great doctor
